UPSTREAM OIL & GAS

History shows us that the world’s major oil and gas basins have been discovered, developed and operated by either International Oil Companies (IOCs) or State-owned National Oil Companies (NOCs). History also shows that as production declines and opportunities to utilise the surplus capacity of existing infrastructure diminishes, IOCs have looked to divest their mature assets. Typically, the marginal cost of production for an IOC is greater than it is for the more nimble players that acquire mature assets, and these same assets continue to produce safely and reliably, often for many more years.

Corinthian’s personnel have been successful in extending the economic production life, whilst at the same time, successfully managing technical integrity of the facilities they have operated. In some cases, in partnership with new owners, we have delivered material incremental production; with well workovers, infill and near-field drilling campaigns adding significant value to the asset.

Such opportunities are sub-surface driven; however, the lower base operating cost of smaller operations allows Corinthian to take a longer-term view of the asset, which may in turn allow incremental investment and value accretion.

VALUE REALISATION FROM LATE LIFE UPSTREAM ENERGY ASSETS

Corinthian has an extensive track record in servicing, upgrading and extending the production life on existing oil and gas field facilities. We add value throughout the late life cycle of oil and gas assets by leveraging our significant mature asset operator experience and technical expertise across the full range of our service portfolio.

Our unique position as a provider of integrated asset management, production operations, maintenance, engineering and brownfield project delivery services, allows us to bring an owner’s production mind set to every solution.

The mature production assets that Corinthian supports are geographically spread across the Asia-Pacific region. We have a footprint in multiple locations and focus, where feasible, to maximise and grow local skill-sets that can be transferable to other industry sectors, supported by partners centred in SE Asia, Australia and the UK.

Corinthian’s mature asset value optimisation strategy:

  • challenges the status quo to extend the economic production life
  • minimises risk to as low as reasonably practicable
  • ensure front line workers maintain a culture of vigilance and mindful awareness
  • leverages new contract operator commercial models that underpin a paradigm shift in aligned thinking and collaboration
  • evolves an intelligent, integrated supply chain which leads on standardisation, sharing and simplification
  • ensures a systematic approach is in place to deliver production optimisation for each producing field, including appropriate processes, systems and organisational response
  • ensures that infrastructure is fit for the future purpose, addressing bad actors that reduce production efficiency and optimising maintenance strategies to meet the extended asset life
  • supports new labour models to optimise the operation while supporting individuals to successfully transition into new affiliated future industry sectors, such as clean energy and Comminution Assisted Renewable Energy (CARE), as the shape of the existing oil and gas sector changes.

Corinthian promotes enhanced asset stewardship for remaining production life and optimum decommissioning. Whilst understanding the current asset technical limits and forecast recovery, in partnership with our clients, we consistently do the right things at the right time, to identify and exploit additional opportunities.

We analyse production systems to identify constraints as fluids composition changes over time. We also maximise economic recovery and reduce the unit cost of  production by:

  • targeting optimum investment to maximise production potential
  • dynamically aligning performance standards for safety and production critical elements, to the late life operating and decommissioning philosophies and timetable
  • adopting predictive analytics and digital technologies that use the existing stream of data being generated, to improve reliability of critical equipment
  • Exploiting benefits from proven evolving technologies such as wireless communications (4G-5G), asset visualisation, condition based maintenance technologies and the use of composites for structural repairs, alongside promising non-invasive inspection technologies for hard to reach areas, and remote and autonomous technologies that deliver further safety and cost savings
  • targeting productivity, multi-skilling and simplicity minded management.

Corinthian understand the sensitivities associated with balancing the resources required  to meet the mature industry operational needs, with:

  • self-contained, right-sized, geographic area-focused O&M
  • multi-skilled, self-empowered and innovative work forces, who are well rewarded for success
  • O&M teams who leverage  economies of scale within the wider local supply chain (where appropriate) for non-core services.

Efficient operation of mature oil and gas assets is challenging, particularly in a low oil-price environment. Corinthian meets these challenges head-on, seizing the opportunity and leverage the ingenuity and expertise of its seasoned industry professionals.

SMALL SCALE, LOW COST, LOW CARBON SECURE POWER PROJECTS

Corinthian’s heritage capability has been developed to help meet the future energy needs of SE Asia by improving performance and extending the life of mature upstream oil and gas assets. We recognise that this approach can only go so far.

We also recognise that in some more remote areas, energy needs are not always delivered consistently or reliably, and that alternative energy sources can play a wider role in the regional energy supply mix.

Through its established regional relationships Corinthian is developing opportunities to establish and participate in small-scale (up to 100MW) energy solutions that are a mix of renewable (both traditional and Comminution Assisted Renewable Energy (CARE)) and gas fuelled.

We believe the availability of low cost, low carbon and secure power, can be the catalyst for valuable development and local prosperity. It can be the enabler for further manufacturing industries as well as providing continual learning and development opportunities. Corinthian are participating in the beginning of this journey, and we believe the opportunities for mutual trade and cultural alignment can grow exponentially across Australia and the SE Asian region.

SMALL SCALE POWER PROJECTS2022-11-21T11:14:45+08:00

SMALL SCALE, LOW COST, LOW CARBON SECURE POWER PROJECTS

Central conurbations across Asia Pacific are already supported by the primary energy supply value chains. However, Corinthian see significant power generation opportunities to support the advancement of local communities in regional cities and areas, where a competitively priced, low carbon, secure energy supply need, is still not being met.

Corinthian’s strategy is to identify opportunities, screen, filter and select those independent power projects that stand up ethically and commercially, and which benefit and create long-term value for local communities.

We continue to review solutions, which include base load demand satisfied by break bulk, small scale LNG virtual pipelines, integrated with either Comminution Assisted Renewable Energy (CARE) facilities and/or a combination of traditional renewables such as solar and wind, with battery storage for varying peak demands.

Corinthian elects to not own or hold specific energy technology licences, nor do we manufacture specific plant or equipment. Our freedom from these constraints allows us to evaluate all potential options and select the technology, process design and supply chain service providers that will deliver the project objectives and maximise the associated benefits.

We also have solutions to address grid stability, including smart grid innovative technology developed by one of our partnering companies. We combine  proven technology to create scalable, innovative energy supply project solutions that can be deployed across Asia Pacific’s more remote regions.

Corinthian continue to develop strategic partnerships, increasing capability and capacity to provide end-to- end infrastructure to deliver small scale remote region energy solutions economically,  so providing cost effective, low carbon and secure electricity.

Corinthian are the remote small scale, low cost, low carbon, and secure energy project integrator of choice:

  • Footprint and experience across Asia Pacific
  • Collaborative partnerships across the full value chain, with regulatory and trading knowledge
  • Technical discipline partnerships across marine, clean energy, Comminution Assisted Renewable Energy (CARE), LNG and power generation, storage, and stabilised transmission
  • Investment facilitator and participant
  • Optimised project definition – integrated renewables and gas technology and infrastructure selection to match scale of energy need(s) across diverse geographic location(s)
  • Project development and execution expertise and experience
  • Contract operations, maintenance and asset management expertise
  • Transparent, collaborative and enabling culture to build trust and respect for life
  • Know, select, and lead the right supply chain parties to deliver the combined result, no individual winners and losers.

Corinthian Energy understand the opportunities, the risks and the optimum strategies to manage both.

COMMINUTION ASSISTED RENEWABLE ENERGY (CARE)2022-11-30T09:52:01+08:00

COMMINUTION ASSISTED RENEWABLE ENERGY (CARE)

A leading-edge holistic solution for municipal solid waste treatment combined with renewable base load power generation.

Corinthian is working in partnership with local entrepreneurs and local government authorities across Southeast Asia to solve the pressing need to reduce municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill, whilst delivering secure low-cost renewable base load power.

Each CARE project is commercially attractive, has a positive high ESG impact and is commercially viable without the need for ongoing tipping fees.

A CARE project has the potential to process up to one million tonnes per year of MSW, sort and recycle valuable material for the circular economy, produce organic fertilizer, deliver up to 50MW of electrical power at lower emissions than traditional MSW incineration-based schemes, and provide employment and technical skills development opportunities.

CARE DIFFERENCES

This is not Waste to Energy (WtE) as it is known today: CARE’s integrated process fundamentally differs from conventional WtE processes which typically employ direct incineration of waste.

Corinthian’s integrated CARE process supports the circular economy by sorting MSW into recyclable, recoverable, organic and residual materials, and utilizes new technology to convert combustible residual material into a clean synthetic gas which is used as fuel to generate electricity.

The proprietary comminution process has been developed and tested over many years and has been successfully scaled from laboratory to pilot plant, to a commercial scale demonstration plant by our technology partners.

CARE PROJECT BENEFITS

  • Increased the amount of power generated from renewable resources.
  • Provision of base load renewable energy to contribute to future local power demands.
  • Reduced dependency on imported fossil fuels, such as coal and exposure to market driven cost variations.
  • Processing up to one million tonnes per project of MSW per annum in accordance with waste hierarchy principles:
    • Support of local circular economy initiatives through increasing the automated sorting and recovery of materials for recycling.
    • Substantial reduction in the volume of material placed into landfill and reduced future demand for landfill sites.
  • Reduced fugitive methane emissions from existing landfill sites
  • Reduced air emissions compared to generation of electrical power by traditional waste to energy incineration, and elimination of incineration ash as hazardous or special waste.
  • Land reclamation for more valuable uses, as and when landfill sites are cleared.
  • Local employment and technical skills development opportunities, attracting significant long term local government financial and non-financial support.
